Big Step

This week has been a pretty crazy one! My husband found out that he landed a job in Tuacahn which means that I will be living in St George from the beginning of May until December. Although this means that I will have to defer for a semester this will be an amazing opportunity for me to get observational experience for my capstone! Tuacahn Amphitheater is right next to Tuacahn High School of the Performing Arts. Many of the students that go to that high school have had the opportunity to grow up with movement being a huge part of their education and their lives. This week my main objective has been to see if there is any way that I could work around these students. Everything for this summer is still being planned out so they do not know what jobs are available but I hope to be able to apply for some soon.

  1. Hope this works out. Are you thinking of an actual study measuring progress by these students?

  2. Following up on Scott's question, Sarah, you might want to draft out a set of possibilities for ways you could perhaps work with the Performing Arts students. There's even the possibility of being a liaison between these students and local elementary students. That is, recruiting and coaching high school students with movement backgrounds to volunteer with elementary students to whom they could introduce principles of movement?

  3. So are you planning to focus on high school aged individuals and their reaction to physical movement, or people of many ages? It would be interesting to learn how movement affects the very young and the very old.
